How can one talk about this Ramona Bowl season without mentioning some of the great children’s summer theater and events that have taken place so far? The Little Mermaid was an absolute audience pleaser, and kids of all ages were on hand to perform this Disney Classic live before exuberant crowds of parents and fans of Kid’s Theater from throughout Southern California. And the tongue in cheek version of the Old California story, Zorro, was a big crowd pleaser as well. Bringing enough fun and melodrama to the Ramona Bowl stage to fill a thousand piñatas . With music and horses and laughter all around, brought to us from some amazing local artists and talent. So many standouts this year in the children’s theater realm, we can’t help but feel inspired at the potential future of this amazing program. Stacey West Bailey and her talented team have so many more wonderful things in store, it’s beginning to look like the schedule will need to be expanded in coming seasons just to accommodate this fantastic educational and entertainment series. More than just an after school program, the Ramona Bowl Summer Children’s Theater is quickly becoming an educational forum that provides not only learning and enjoyment for the kids, but it’s also an ongoing way for parents to bring the arts into their children’s lives inexpensively. In an age where so many arts programs are being abandoned in the public school system due to funding cutbacks and lack of staff availability, we are determined to help fill the void here at the Ramona Bowl. We couldn’t be more proud of what Ms. Bailey and the Summer Children’s program staff have accomplished in such a short period of time.
